Synchronize Groups and Managers from O365/Google

When integrating your Microsoft 365 (M365) or Google users’ roster with Symbol, the application allows you to approve or deny users individually or by group. You can also approve managers as part of your population.

How It Works

Once your Microsoft 365 or Google account has been integrated, company admins will be notified by email if new users are found. If the email is not delivered, you can navigate to the company, click the Users tab in the left sidebar, and then click the Pending for approval tab.

On the Pending for approval page, you will be able to see:

• Users
• Groups (if applicable)
• Managers (if applicable)

You can switch between groups and individual users by clicking the dropdown on the right side of the page labeled List by users or List by groups.

If you approve a group of users, Symbol will automatically add those users to the list and include the group name as a category.

About Managers

Here are a couple of things to know about managers:

• Managers will have certain visibility into user task completion within Symbol based on their status as a manager of that user in your Microsoft 365 or Google directory.
• Managers are treated as normal users, so they can be included in phishing campaigns or cyber training. The difference is that they will be notified when users they manage meet certain criteria, such as having a training course due in less than a week or having an overdue training course.
• Managers will have permissions in the User Portal that allow them to view the training assignments of certain users, based on the Microsoft 365 or Google manager-user relationship, and send reminders to complete trainings that are pending or overdue.
• When a manager is identified through the Microsoft 365 or Google sync and approved by the administrator, that manager will receive an email invitation with instructions on how to sign in to the User Portal in their new manager view.

This implementation allows owners to organize their companies more effectively by providing a simple way to synchronize groups and managers directly from Microsoft 365 or Google.
